Sunsets and Tropical Rain

Today is supposed to be a blogathon group haiku  post...I've chosen to do 2 Tankas instead. The normal format of a Tanka is 5 lines...with 5-7-5-7-7 syllables.
(for the first Tanka - Orange is pronounced with 2 syllables)

sunset masterpiece
brush strokes of red and pink swirls
whispers of orange
hints of darkness peeking through
showcasing a flaming ball

----------------------------------------------

white sprawling porches
tropical rain pounding down
washing the dry ground
watery sunlight peeks through
sweet scent of rain lingering

  1. Beautiful imagery! I do enjoy poetry but have no talent for it myself.

  2. Writing short form poetry is hard. You do this very well.

  3. @Christine- I'm usually a rhyming poet- old school all the way- so the tanka or haiku are great challenges for me.

@Mark-I was wanting to see if you did a haiku about songs :)...I did enjoy your post today even if it wasn't a haiku!
